Simla & Burwash House

Project Description
Invicta has recently commenced works on two tower blocks located close to London Bridge. The blocks are managed by Leathermarket JMB, a resident managed organisation, and this will be our third major contract with this client.

The main part of the works involve the renewal of the cold water services serving 157 flats. We will be renewing the booster sets located on the ground floor of both blocks and de-commissioning the tanks, which are located on the roofs.

In order to renew the cold water services we will be diamond drilling through the slab on each floor to run a new boosted cold water service throughout the building. This part of the contract will require meticulous planning in order to run the new service whilst leaving the old pipework live to provide an uninterrupted water supply to all properties until the services are ‘switched over’ when the bathroom replacement works are undertaken.

A major part of works will entail asbestos removal, which too will have to be carefully planned as the properties will be occupied whilst we carry out these works. We shall also provide two fully furnished flats to be used by the residents whilst the asbestos is removed from their properties. Upon completion of the asbestos removal an independent asbestos contractor will attend to carry out an air test. Once they have produced a certificate to say that the area is safe the residents can then return to their home. Following the asbestos removal works we will continue with the bathroom refurbishment, which will consist of replacing the sanitary ware, plastering the ceiling, tiling, painting and replacing the flooring with a non-slip vinyl.
