Invicta were invited to complete the Mechanical and Electrical works involving the upgrade of 2 separate plantrooms at different schools in the London Borough of Bromley
The 15 weeks projects which ran simultaneously in each school involved the decommissioning, isolation and removal of existing gas fired boiler plant, associated pipework, flues, and electrical controls.
This was followed by the installation of Hamworthy condensing boilers, an Enwa filtration unit, pressurisation units, air-dirt separator, a new Siemsatic BMS control panels, primary and secondary pumps, and A1 flue system.
The system was put in to work alongside the existing Air Source Heat Pumps at each school.
Temporary boilers were put in to ensure continued heating supply for the pupils and teachers while the works took place during the Winter and Spring term time.
Each school had a scaffold which was installed by CISRS qualified staff and signed off weekly by our CISRS certified inspector.
During the day our site manager carried out spot checks of all sub-contractors whilst on site to ensure they are not only completing their works to an optimum standard but to also ensure they are maintaining good Health & Safety practices. These regular inspections are carried out to ensure the works are handed over free of defects which avoids the disruption and cost of returning to make good any issues.
We worked closely with the Premises Mangers at the schools and Sally Collins, the London Borough of Bromley’s Project manager to ensure they were kept updated with progress, to understand school requirements regarding access and work times, and all other related matters.
All required design checks, working drawings & technical submissions, were issued promptly to the project consultant, Baily Garner, before the start of the project.
We attended pre-start meetings at each school with the representatives from The London Borough of Bromley, Baily Garner, the Head Teacher, and the Premises Managers to get to know the client and ultimately the end user (the school).
This collaboration with all stakeholders is essential to ensure a smooth running, delay-free project where all parties are aware of the progress and decisions could be made immediately wherever required.
